The Heavy Vehicle Knowledge Test is a mandatory step for drivers in New South Wales seeking to upgrade their licence to a higher heavy vehicle class, such as Light Rigid (LR), Medium Rigid (MR), Heavy Rigid (HR), Heavy Combination (HC), or Multi Combination (MC). The Heavy Vehicle Competency Based Assessment (HVCBA) is the approved pathway for drivers in New South Wales to gain or upgrade a heavy vehicle licence.
